FOOL FOR LOVE / Play

Set against the stark, dreamy backdrop of the Mojave desert in the early 80s, Shepard’s Fool for Love unfurls the restless, magnetic romance between Eddie and May.

Relentless, candid; we are witness, through an immediate aperture, to their cyclical dance— passion and beauty, primal need and desire, most vulnerable emotions laid bare, tenderness taken to the very edge.

After 2 years, Eddie finds May in her shabby desert motel room in 29 Palms. Within these four walls, the boundaries between raw realism and fantasy are porous. They lose themselves in each other again, unable to break the pattern of their combustable love.

Eddie and May gallop through the savage and wild terrain of their love, until the shocking secret of their pact and passion racks into sharp focus.

What happens when outer reality is in the way of the tendril of real love within you-- the realest thing? This gorgeous work by Shepard explores the longing to become whole, the power of blood bonds, and "reality" being in the way of reality.

Fool for Love is about claiming the current of real love, breaking out of fantasy, and exploding into your power as authentically whole.

Girl Trip Productions presents Shepard’s one-act play about love and obsession. Alex McKenna (Red Dead Redemption, Code Black), Arron Shiver (Boardwalk Empire), Sonny Valicenti (Mindhunter), and Kevin Quinn star in the production directed by Harrison James. Fool for Love has original music and sound design by Magnetic Zeros’ Crash Richard. Sarah Polednak is the production’s choreographer.
